HOW WE WORK

If your organization decided to design a new widget next week, there would be a need to plan, create a strategy and update/train staff in order to execute the changes in the organization. No preparation = potential widget roll-out doom.

So, too, when an organization decides to add second-chance workers to their staffing roster.

At Damascus, we're fans of professional success, measurable outcomes and moving the needle on reentry. With both corporate and corrections backgrounds, our staff understands ALL of the stakeholders. To assist organizations with hiring, Damascus provides both training workshops and ongoing support for your staff while Damascus workers are part of your company. The support is free while Damascus workers are employed--because we want both your organization and our team members to succeed.

Training is also available--for a fee--to organizations that are not quite ready for second-chance workers, but want to increase their cultural understanding.

Damascus also supports its workers in a unique way---as in, always. By remaining in constant contact about both workplace and home issues, Damascus leadership creates the support that is largely missing in other staffing agency models. The result: loyal employees for your organization who are there to work when they're supposed to work.

ABOUT US

Curious why two people - with 10 kids between them, and corporate backgrounds that don’t seem to align with prison and reentry - would be moving 263 mph inside the “Do Something Now” category?

Us, too, sometimes.

After years of walking with incarcerated men and women in prison and seeing firsthand the struggles and barriers they faced when they served their debt and returned to society, we stopped ignoring all the people and possibilities God kept placing directly in our path and connected the dots. We knew plenty of workers who needed jobs. We knew plenty of employers who needed workers. We knew there were barriers to reentry and employment (read: transportation, work-force readiness, terror in the “who-is-this-guy-coming-out-of-prison?” department) that needed a bridge and people to traverse it.

We also knew that God had answers we hadn’t even considered.

Damascus Staffing began as Elevation Industries in 2015 with a simple mission: connect workers to jobs–but in a way that emulated the sense of community we had created inside prisons for years: Create a place of trust. Listen to the stories.  Build into people's talents. Stay with people once they were employed. Fold them back into our team when it didn’t quite work out. Educate and assist the employers in their willingness to bridge the gap. It involves humans so it’s clunky sometimes. But it’s worth it….and a privilege to be deployed like this.

Damascus Staffing is God’s idea. We try to get out of the way most of the time.  Add loyal and talented men and women to your workforce by contact Damascus today.

Everyone has untapped potential

Damascus is a non-profit staffing solution that works directly with men and women who have criminal records and other barriers to employment. Simple, right?

A bigger question: How would a team of talented, motivated workers enhance your organization's bottom line?

Most of our team members have been incarcerated; others have compiled a record without spending a night in the slammer. Either way, Damascus is unique in that we understand incarceration and the challenges that come with living an under-resourced life. We understand that men and women who decide to start over are among the most loyal employees around.

And we understand that sometimes the best gift you can give someone in life is a second chance.

Everyone Makes Mistakes... EVERYONE!

God doesn't rank mistakes and neither do we.

There's no "them" and "us" -- just US.
